RTVSCAN.EXE



What is it?
rtvscan.exe is an executable of the Symantec Internet Security Suite. It is responsible for the execution of real-time virus-scanning in order to detect virus infected files as they enter your system. This program is important for the stable and secure running of your computer and should not be terminated.



How to temporarily disable RTVSCAN.EXE?
Many a times rtvscan.exe takes up a lot of memory warranting disabling it temporarily, when your resources on the computer are getting tough.
1) You can type in "services.msc" in your Services->Run.. to get to the services applet.
2) "stop" the "Symantec Anti Virus Software" service. This will disable the rtvscan.exe from operation.
NOTE: Remember this disabling the service should be temporary. You need this service to fully protect your windows installation.

How to permanently disable RTVSCAN.EXE?
Unfortunately the answer is NO. You will have to uninstall the anti virus suite and get another suite from a different vendor.
